WELCOME TO MIDTOWN MONDAY

This is your weekly update on the predevelopment phase of the Midtown site. 

Much has changed since last Monday. As a City government, our first priority today and in the coming weeks is making sure our community gets the information and resources they need to get through this uniquely challenging time, and to put programs and policies in place to the help mitigate the long-term impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic and strengthen the social, economic, and physical health of our communities.

Throughout this crisis the Governing Body will continue their hard work to maintain the stability of current policies and initiatives critical to our citys future, including the Midtown Redevelopment project. As part of that effort, the Governing Body will host a special hearing on April 13, 2020* to provide an opportunity for the public to meet the master developer that the Evaluation Committee is recommending for approval to enter into an Exclusive Negotiation Agreement with the City. 

*Date corrected from last weeks newsletter where it was listed as March 25.

Upon approval of the Exclusive Negotiation Agreement, the next phase of public engagement begins, and will be conducted in partnership with the master developer and local community organizations. However, the ongoing public health crisis will impact how Santa Feans are able to access and participate in upcoming public meetings and engagement activities. The City and redevelopment team will be revisiting public engagement plans, ideas, and timelines to ensure an equitable path forward, and we will continue to update you each Monday as things change and our options become more clear.

….and the requirement that all of these land uses be designed under a model of equitable and sustainable development.
